Seconded.  I think the LDP should standardise on this format, and advise
all authors/translators to update their texts accordingly.

(BTW, in the general discussion of alternative formats, you forgot to
mention the "diplomatic service" format:

     25/XII/00   for   25th Dec 2000 

-- it too is unambiguous, but also a bit of a pig to parse.)
