I guess I was too frustrated at the time of writing and didn't pay much
attention to the new tools. After an hour or two straight worth of
trying to fix compile errors I just gave up.
 
Either way, like I wrote to you aswell, things are working. I just
manually copied all sgml tools related files from a debian machine to
mine (after I tried to install an rpm file; that package installed fine,
but utils like sgmlpre and sgmlsasp segmentation faulted. Dpkg wasn't
going to install either). 

So I now have a sgmltools tarball which contains precompiled binaries.
All i have to do in the future is unpack it and copy the files to the
appropriate directories.

I wonder why I hadn't thought of this before. A simple 'local sgml' and
copy all relevant files to the new machine was all I needed to do.

One small note on Sgmltools2. People say you can't use LinuxDoc with it.
Ok, LinuxDoc isn't shipped with the package, but isn't sgmltools v2
supposed to be a general, independant packages? SO couldn't you copy the
linuxdoc files from the sgmltools v1. to the directory where the
sgmltools v2. DTD's are located?

Or is LinuxDoc too incompatible ?

Just asking out of curiousity. And no, I'm not going to try this out for
myself. I've had enough of this mess. I can convert sgml files to
txt/html and that's it as far as I am concerned.

Off to find a new problem to spend time on...
